Disney is making eating around the world is a little easier this year with a new mobile guide to the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, which kicks off this Friday, September 30, 2011. The mobile device-friendly guide is designed to be accessed via QR codes posted on menu boards around the theme park, allowing hungry guests to easily access lists of food and drinks available as well as a variety of other information about the event.

By using a QR reader on a mobile device and scanning Spaceship Earth-shaped QR codes, guests inside Epcot will have their mobile web browsers directed to a web site, which can also be accessed any time, inside or out of the park, though the exact interface will vary by device.

The mobile guide allows guests to sift through the many edible offerings at the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, navigating by a list or by a map of the World Showcase.

Detailed descriptions and prices for each dish are available along with the ability to bring the festival to social networks by share thoughts about the food and drinks on Twitter and Facebook.

Favorite items can be marked for future reference.

In addition, the app features a list of all special events, such as culinary demonstrations, that take place throughout the International Food and Wine Festival, offering descriptions, prices and availability.

The entire Eat to the Beat concert series line-up is included as well, with photos, dates, and details about each band performing at the festival.

To access the mobile guide, simply use any mobile QR reader to scan the codes featured on the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival menus in the theme park. From anywhere else, navigate your browser to http://qr2.it/Go/468472, which redirects to this full site.

The Epcot International Food and Wine Festival begins Sept. 30 and runs through Nov. 13. Along with this new mobile app, Disney is also debuting food and drinks from Hawaii, the Caribbean islands, and Portugal this year. Disney has also released a series of instructional videos teaching how to make some of the event’s most popular recipes at home.
