On a stage in front of the elaborate new ride entrance, Disneyland Resort held an equally elaborate grand opening ceremony today for The Little Mermaid ride. The entertainment began on land with musical performances and a dedication and then continued as guests were invited to travel under the sea with Ariel, Sebastian, Flounder, and the gang from The Little Mermaid in the new dark ride adventure.

Jodi Benson, voice of Ariel, and Sherie Rene Scott, Broadway performer of Ursula, treated invited press at the Disney California Adventure theme park to a rousing renditions familiar tunes from The Little Mermaid. Also in attendance was Alan Menken who wrote the Oscar winnings songs performed today.
