Exactly one month before the new Cheetah Hunt roller coaster has its grand opening at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, the park has released video of the new ride running riderless around the track in a series of tests.
The new coaster isn’t ready for human riders yet, but Busch Gardens loaded up its highly-themed trains with water dummies and sent them cruising around its many twists and turns, blasting through several launch zones.
Watch video of Cheetah Hunt in action, beginning with a time-lapse of its construction:
The new attraction has popped up almost as quickly as a cheetah runs, with many new details added since we toured the Cheetah Hunt construction site in February. Themed decor is still being added around the track as we draw closer to the ride’s grand opening on May 27.
We will bring you a sneak preview of Cheetah Hunt on the evening of May 26, so check back here that night, then head out to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay to experience it for yourself on May 27!

Great news!
any chance of a soft opening before May 20 ????
Woah, is it just me or is this coaster coming in close to some power lines??
Fine by me. I think most coasters don’t have enough of a danger element to them.
Those aren’t power lines – that’s the Skyride! Sky buckets will come very close to the coaster track, which will make it exciting for riders on both.
Oh wow, thanks for the clarification Ricky. That is actually a pretty cool idea.
This roller coaster looks just incredible. I love the theming. Looks like Busch Gardens is doing this one right.
