Today Disney premiered its newest parade, the Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun. The parade replaces the Block Party Bash at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The roughly 8-minute new show places popular Pixar characters board parade floats that quickly ride through the theme park with the repeating backing tunes hinged by a variation of of “Bang the Drum All Day.” Included are characters from The Incredibles, Monsters Inc., Up, Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, and Ratatouille. Notably (and inexplicably) absent are any familiar faces from Cars.

The parade reuses several floats from the former Block Party Bash, some repainted, but removes the show stops, creating a continuously-moving spectacle. In fact, the new Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun parade moves so quickly and features so many characters, it’s tough to take it all in at once. But at least it doesn’t hog the streets for extended periods of time like Block Party Bash once did.
It seems the Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun has been designed to exist somewhere between a traditional parade and the “street parties” that have taken over many of Disney’s theme parks in recent years. The upbeat party-type music leaves the Pixar characters dancing throughout the duration of the parade but its quick movement down the roads doesn’t allow enough time for guests to dance along.
Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun is a visually entertaining parade but doesn’t require excessive planning or waiting to get a good spot. Guests can easily show up near any of the main Hollywood Studios roads, watch the short show, and resume their day of attraction hopping.
