While us Orlando folks continue to wait for details surrounding Universal Orlando’s version of Halloween Horror Nights 2010, in California Universal Studios Hollywood has made their first haunted maze theme announcement. A partnership with movie maker and musician Rob Zombie will bring his horror film “House of 1,000 Corpses” to life for Horror Nights guests.

The house will feature the movie’s most popular (and sinister) characters including Captain Spaulding, Baby, Otis, Mother Firefly, Killer, and of course, Dr. Satan. On Twitter as @HorrorNights, the event’s creative director John Murdy has revealed a few additional details about scenes that will be featured in the house. Fans of the film will recognize the Firefly house, Dr. Satan’s lair / underground cave, and even the Murder Ride (though without a ride system).

The all-new maze design will incorporate 3D elements, requiring guests to wear special glasses. However, according to Murdy, they won’t be using the tried-and-true blacklight 3D method. “This isn’t a black light maze,” wrote Murdy. “Taking a little different approach.”

Zombie himself finds a special twist to the story. Noisecreep.com reports him as commenting in an exclusive interview, “When you think about it, it’s pretty cool and ironic since that’s the studio that originally made the movie, but never released it [because they thought it was too disturbing]. And now we’re back in the park doing this attraction. But it’s great and they’re putting a lot of work into it, so it’s going to be really awesome.”

More about the “House of 1,000 Corpses” maze and the partnership with Rob Zombie can be found at Noisecreep.com and more information about the event itself is available at HalloweenHorrorNights.com.
