in Events, Theme Parks, Universal Orlando

If you’ve read all the details about Halloween Horror Nights 2010 at Universal Orlando and are dying to see it all in one night, you may find yourself in for a fright when you encounter the 60+ minute lines that might await your arrival to the event. But fear not, as Universal Orlando is bringing back its pricey but worth-every-penny R.I.P. Tours that allow you to get the jump on the poor souls queueing up for a taste of fear.

Two varieties of R.I.P. Tours

  • Non-Private R.I.P. Tours: You and your party, along with other R.I.P. Tour guests, will enjoy a structured, guided walking tour of one Halloween Horror Nights event night, including reserved seating for Bill and Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure and priority V.I.P. access to all of the haunted houses.

The cost is $150.00 per person for non-peak nights, plus tax and event admission. That last part is important – event admission is NOT INCLUDED in this price. This price is available September 24, 30, Oct. 3, 7, 10, 14, 17, 20, 21, 24, 27 & 31. On peak nights (October 1, 2, 8, 15, 16, 22, 23, 28, 29 & 30) the price jumps to $175.00 per person, plus tax and event admission. The tour lasts four hours and consists of up to twelve guests. After the tour, the R.I.P. Tour credentials can be used for Universal Express access to regular theme park attractions.

  • Private R.I.P. Tours: If you don’t want to drag other unknown bodies around with you, the private tours allow you and your party of up to twelve to enjoy a guided walking tour of one Halloween Horror Nights event night. The tour can be tailored to the interests of your group, to include not only the Halloween Horror Nights haunted houses and shows, but access to select park attractions as well.

But it’ll cost you an arm and a leg – $1,500.00 per group of up to twelve, plus tax and event admission. Again, that’s PLUS event admission. This price is valid for September 24, 30, Oct. 3, 7, 10, 14, 17, 20, 21, 24, 27 & 31. On the peak nights (Again -October 1, 2, 8, 15, 16, 22, 23, 28, 29 & 30), the price leaps up to $1,800 per group. Tours can begin as early as 7:00 PM, ending as late as 2:00 AM, with a mandatory forty-five minute break built into the tour.

    Behind-the-Scenes at Halloween Horror Nights

If you’re thirsting for more Halloween Horror Nights, or perhaps you’re too afraid to wander the hallowed haunted house halls under the darkness of night, Universal Orlando also offers behind-the-scenes, lights-on tours of some of their mazes. There are two versions:

  • Unmasking the Horror Tour
Lights-on tours of three Halloween Horror Nights 2010 haunted houses are available at $50+tax per person. The tour lasts two hours and departs 11am and 2pm on event days. It also provides a basic overview of this year’s Halloween Horror Nights event.

  • Unmasking the Horror: Twenty Years of FEAR Tour
Unique to this year is a special version of the Unmasking the Horror tour available only on select dates (Sept. 29, Oct. 6 & 13 at 10am & 2pm, Oct. 20 & 27 at 1pm). This tour is three hours long and includes the event overview, lights-on tour of three houses, plus a Q & A session with one of the Halloween Horror Nights creators. The extra hour adds $25 to the cost, bringing it to $75+tax per person.
