Three highly-acclaimed documentaries about aspects of the Walt Disney Company’s past are scheduled for release to DVD on November 30, 2010.
Waking Sleeping Beauty, directed by Don Hahn & Peter Schneider, takes viewers to “the second chapter of Disney’s animation legacy” that brought us such films as The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, and offers an inside look at the conflicts that arose during that period. The film features insights from Michael Eisner, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Roy E. Disney, John Lasseter and many more who were there to see it all unfold.

The Boys: The Sherman Brothers’ Story tells the tale of Disney’s famous songwriting brothers, Richard and Robert Sherman. The documentary was directed their sons, Gregg & Jeff Sherman, and dives deep into the inspiration and drama found within the Sherman family during the creation of so many classic Disney songs.

Walt & El Grupo revives vintage footage following Walt Disney and a team of animators (“El Grupo”) as cultural ambassadors to South America. In addition to spreading goodwill during the WWII-era, the trip ultimately led to the creation of the films Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros.

Each documentary DVD release will feature plenty of bonus features that dive even deeper into the creation of these films as well as the subject matters at hand.

I am trying to learn about the 1959 Madame Alexander Sleeping Beauty doll that was approved by Disney as an official Sleeping Beauty doll. I want to pass it down to my granddaughter and would like to tell her about the doll. I have just about exhausted all avenues in my search except Disney. Can you help me with this or direct me to someone who can? Madame Alexander was noooo help.
Thanks so much, I am about to give up.
Perhaps Dave Smith at the Walt Disney Archives could help you:
