To kick off the June 10, 2010 world premiere media event for Disney’s new “World of Color” water show at the Disney California Adventure theme park, movie, television, and music celebrities appeared at the park not by red carpet, but by walking down a stylish blue carpet, greeting fans and taking pictures along the way.
Among the celebrities in attendance were High School Musical‘s Vanessa Hudgens, Twilight‘s Peter Facinelli, Full House and ER‘s John Stamos, Jamie Lee Curtis, Geena Davis, members of the cast of Modern Family, voice of Ariel in The Little Mermaid Jodi Benson, Disney songwriter Richard Sherman, and many more.
In addition, Disney premiered the larger-than-life puppet characters that comprise the “World of Color” pre-show, called “Carnivale of Color.”
If you’ve never attended a celebrity red (or blue) carpet arrival before, I can tell you it’s a hectic experience. Names are shouted left and right from fans and the media, all with the hopes of getting the attention of, and a little time with, the celebrities. Some stars are eager to take pictures and conduct interviews, others simply seem ready to get off the carpet as quickly as possible. Some wander alone, others with their families.
Here’s a video of what it was like to stand on the media side of the carpet with excited fans placed on the opposite side:
While I felt that “World of Color” was the star of the event and that all the all the celebrities were just filler for me, some attending media were definitely drawn there just to grab as many celebrity photos as they could. Although star gazing wasn’t our priority, we have our fair share of celebrity snapshots as well.
