Voice Actress Kat Cressida Becomes First Woman to Announce the NFL Draft on ESPN

in Disney, Events, Walt Disney World

Disney fans know voice actress Kat Cressida best from her role voicing Constance, the Black Widow Bride, in The Haunted Mansion. But now she is preparing to become the first female voice of ESPN’s coverage of the NFL Draft, which will be held in New York’s Radio City Musical Hall toward the end of this month.

You’ll hear Cressida’s voice as the show comes in and out of commercial breaks as well as during sponsorship messages in ESPN’s Sportscenter NFL Draft special before the draft begins.

Here at Inside the Magic, you might remember our two feature interviews with Kat Cressida from Show 82 and Show 238, where we spoke with her at length about her role as the voice of the Haunted Mansion bride. Both Inside the Magic episodes were, of course, Halloween specials.

ESPN Producer Jay Roth told the Beverly Hills Courier, “With the NFL’s move of the Draft being televised in primetime on Thursday and Friday nights, we wanted to create more of an entertainment-type feel, and thought it appropriate, especially with the venue being Radio City Music Hall, to have a ‘house announcer.’ I have always admired the style and grace of Kat’s voice, especially through her work on Pardon the Interruption. We are excited to work with her, and integrate her into our coverage.”

For several years, Cressida has also been the official voice of the ESPN show, “Pardon The Interruption.” ESPN, of course, is owned by The Walt Disney Co.

We congratulate Kat on her new role and look forward to hearing her familiar voice, albeit a much less sinister version, on the broadcast.
